There is perhaps no better way to spend an evening than at a cocktail party, where the drinks are cold and pleasant conversation fills the air. And hosting such a gathering can be an especially satisfying experience, as you look around at your smiling guests, holding a drink in one hand and gesturing warmly with the other, knowing that you made the whole thing happen. But in order to properly host such an event, it is important you learn some classic mixed drink recipes:
1. Old fashioned recipe
With this simple old fashioned recipe you can make your guests very happy. Just put a sugar cube inside a glass and then splash some angostura bitters and some club soda on top. Then crush the sugar and spread it around the bottom of the glass. Next, drop in an ice cube and pour the bourbon. And if you’re feeling a little fancy, garnish the drink with a twist of orange and, voila! You have a classic bourbon old fashioned.
2. Whiskey sour drink recipe
This is perhaps America’s most beloved of all the drinks made with whiskey.
3. Pineapple martini recipe
This delicious cocktail will give your party a bit of tropical flair. First, put a martini glass on ice to chill. Then, cut a lemon in two and squeeze the juice from one half into your cocktail shaker. Next add to the shaker two ounces of pineapple rum, one ounce of coconut rum (careful, this is a strong drink!), and 1 ½ ounces of pineapple juice. Shake the mixture well (for about twenty seconds). Then take your chilled glass, rub some lemon around the rim, and dip it into a plate of granulated sugar. Finally, just pour the mixture from the shaker through a strainer and into the glass.
With these simple cocktail recipes, you’ll be sure to keep your guests’ glasses filled and the conversation flowing as fast as the liquor!
